Some locals trapped in Lone Kyein village near Kyaukme town, were killed by gunfire on the evening of August 24, according to locals.
“They said they were trapped in Lone Kyein and asked for help. I think it was an artillery shell. They said two people died,”
a local ,who was helping, said. It was like a battlefield, so no group was allowed to enter, so they had to leave.
Currently, there is a situation where both sides are fighting at the Naung Pein junction, Pintee, Zeepin camp, and Pintein.
“Yesterday, the locals were trapped. No one allowed them to enter. They still can’t get out.”
a local woman who was helping on the ground said. Some locals have no relatives to go to, and they don’t have the money to leave, the helpers said.
We heard intense battle all night last night and we are worried about the local people who were unable to avoid the battle and remained in the village.
Just the other day, in Naung Pein, a family ,which has 6 members, was trapped during the fighting when the military junta shot and killed one man, while 2 children and 1 man were injured.
