On September 2, yesterday morning, a joint military column of the military junta and Pyu Saw Htee troops broke into and looted houses in Thu Soe village, Natogyi Township, and then set fire to Thu Soe village.
The military junta column, which arrived in Malel Village on August 31, burned down the entire village.
Then, on September 2, they arrived in Thu Soe village and robbed and looted houses one by one, burning them down once at 10 a.m. and once at about 3 p.m.
“The Pyu Saw Htee groups led by Thida Yu Mon from Myingyan came in two cars from Kansint village to carry stolen goods. They (the military junta column) are shooting everyone they see, so people are fleeing. They are taking advantage of the people fleeing and breaking into houses of people fleeing,”
a refugee from Thu Soe village told BBM. Since July 31, the military junta and local Myingyan Pyu Saw Htee have been advancing towards Myingyan and Natoygyi areas, often shooting and killing at sight in the villages they reach, forcing the local people to flee, and people who live some villages are still fleeing.
“When I saw the smoke rising, I climbed up a palm tree and saw the Pyu Saw Htee burning down houses in the village one by one. They burned down almost the entire village of Thu Soe village in two separate attacks. They were burning down houses one by one. The Pyu Saw Htee came in two cars and took away the goods they had stolen. They were all fleeing the war. There was no one left in the village,”
a local woman told BBM. Locals said that the military junta column left for the southwest of Thu Soe village after burning down Thu Soe village, but BBM could not independently confirm this.
The Pyu Saw Htee groups led by Thida Yu Mon in Myingyan town are not paid a salary by the military junta and are maintaining themselves by collecting tolls at the entrance gates, collecting bribes from businessmen, and by marching into villages and stealing goods.
