The military junta troops tightened security in Mahlaing town, Mandalay Region, and abducted 10 residents, including children, yesterday evening, according to local military sources.
The military junta troops also abducted young civilians who were walking on the streets and in their homes on the evening of September 16.
“Yesterday, there were 10 people. They abducted young people. Yesterday, there were even children .The military junta did not do it all at once, but they were abducting two or three people at a time,”
a local resident of Mahlaing told BBM. Although Mahlaing is militarily calm, local residents of Mahlaing are urging young people to be careful and considerate as the military junta is increasingly carrying out abductions.
“The military junta forces are recruiting about five people a day from different places. They are no longer recruiting people to create a nuisance in the city like before. If one or two people are recruited from a neighborhood, they are not recruited anymore. The military junta is doing this, so the locals are not avoiding them,”
another resident of Mahlaing told BBM. It is also said that those ,who are being recruited by the military, are being sent directly to battalions and brigades in Meiktila Township to attend military training.
The military junta has been recruiting young people to attend military training since the military service law was enacted nationwide in February 2024.
Currently, the military junta has completed 16th batch military service training and are recruiting 17 th batch more.
The military junta is recruiting about 5,000 cadets per conscription batch, and is also sending new cadets to the front lines where there is intense fighting with revolutionary groups.
