A military junta vehicle abducting porters was ambushed by the Local People’s Defense Force (LPDF) at the Kyaukpadaung – Nyaung U checkpoint in Mandalay Region, killing two members of the military junta, a source told BBM.

On September 24, a military junta vehicle abducting porters was ambushed by the Local Defense Force (LPDF) near Suti village, Htanaung village, on the Kyaukpandaung-Nyaung U road, killing two members of the military junta and injuring others before fleeing, the source said.

“What happened at that gate was a vehicle that was chasing the civilian population, a vehicle that was abducting porters. The Local PDF came to know about it and they came and shot at them. When they shot, two of the military junta members died,”

the source said. Five military vehicles arrived from Nyaung U 30 minutes after the attack, and the local defense forces were able to withdraw unharmed.

“Five military vehicles arrived from Nyaung U about half an hour after the incident. The LPDF were able to withdraw unharmed,”

he added. The military junta, which was hit by the attack, has been securing the area near the gate since September 24.

“It’s been 3 or 4 days since that day. There are daily security checks at the Wa Kin Gyi, Htanaung Win, and Nga May May checkpoints.They are waiting there beacause there’s a mine planted by the LPDF in Htanaung Win. They must be working to clear it,”

he said. The Htanaung Win bus station was randomly checked by the People’s Defense Forces on September 23.
