A mother and her daughter were shot and injured after their motorbike was robbed in Mahaaungmyay Township, Mandalay Region, yesterday, February 1, at around 8pm, residents told BBM.
The incident occurred when the mother and her daughter, owners of an ice cream shop on the corner of 84th and 38th streets in Mahaaungmyay Township, were closing the shop and going back home when two men tried to robbe their motorbike.
“When the shop was closing to go home, the two men robbed the motorbikes. When the daughter refused to give them the keys to the motorbike, they shot the daughter with a gun. She was hit three times,” a resident told BBM.
The daughter, Ma Han Htet Soe San, who was shot in her 20s, was hit in the right arm and right thigh, but her injuries were not life-threatening, but she is receiving medical treatment.
“The bullet hit her arm and thigh, so it’s not life-threatening. She was injured and now she’s receiving medical treatment. The police are investigating, but the culprit has not been found yet,” a resident told BBM.
The area where the robbery took place is currently under security by the military junta, and CCTV cameras have been installed on the streets, but there have been frequent robberies of gold shops in the past.
