An elderly woman was killed and at least 10 houses were destroyed in conducting military junta airstrike in Falam Township, Chin State, according to local residents.

Yesterday, January 31, at around 11:30 pm, the military junta dropped four bombs on Zangzawl village and at least 10 were destroyed.

“When the village was bombed, an elderly woman did not have time to escape. She was 70 years old and could not run. She died on the spot. The four bombs fell on the village, destroying about 10 houses,” a local resident told BBM.

Zangzawl village is far from villages such as Khuangli and Somharam, where fighting between the military junta and the Chin Defense Joint Force is intense, so the airstrikes were carried out without any fighting in the village.

Yesterday morning, the Chin Defense Joint Forces attacked the military junta stationed in Khuangli village near Falam town, causing heavy casualties on the part of the military junta.

“They attacked the hills occupied by the military junta. The fighting was fierce, but they were forced to retreat after junta’s airstrike conducting. Four members of the military junta were killed and many were injured,” a frontline military source told BBM.

On January 30, fierce fighting broke out between the military junta and the Chin Defense Joint Forces in Somharam village near Falam town, causing casualties the military junta soldiers and a CDF Hualngoram soldier, who was killed.

Although there were clashes between the military junta and the Chin Defense Joint Forces near Falam town, the military junta continued to conduct airstrikes on villages in Falam township where there was no fighting, destroying many houses.
