The Ye Blu Battalion said that four military junta soldiers were killed in an ambush who were patrolling in the direction of Kyaung village in Ye Township.

At around 8 am on February 22, the Ye Blu Battalion attacked the military council soldiers from the 591st Battalion, which was based in Kyaung village.

After more than half an hour of firing, four junta soldiers were killed, including Lieutenant Colonel Win Soe, the leader of the Ye Blu Battalion told BBM.

“They were the ones who were providing security for military officers’ wives outside the 591st Battalion when they were going shopping. The rebels took positions and opened fire them.”

In addition, they seized an MA 3 rifle, three magazines, and 100 rounds of ammo from the military council soldiers.

After the fighting, the military junta continued to fire artillery shells into the villages, killing one elderly man and injuring two others.

“There was continuous firing of artillery shells, and there were shells falling near the village. There’s no military operation in these days, but everyone is afraid of going out,” said a villager from Kyaung village.

The military Junta troops are advancing towards the villages where the fighting took place, and the villagers are worried that the fighting will intensify.

Since before the election, the military junta has been advancing in large numbers in the south and north of Ye Township, and there has been heavy artillery shelling, according to local residents.
