🟥Military junta continues to advance in northern Ye Township with excessive force
According to a statement, two soldiers from the revolutionary force were killed in the northern battle in Ye Township, Mon State.
At around 7 am on February 23, a battle broke out between the military Junta and the revolutionary coalition force, which had advanced with about 150 troops near Aung Tha Pyay village in Ye Township.
The two sides exchanged fire for almost an hour, and the revolutionary coalition force had to retreat due to the disparity in manpower and weapons, Mon State Revolutionary Force MSRF spokesperson Mi Tala Nyan told BBM.
“We had a mismatch in manpower and weapons, so they came up and surrounded us and this side suffered injuries.”
He added that two revolutionary comrades died of bullet wounds during the battle and lost some ammunition.
The fighting involved the Mon State Federal Council (MSFC)’s MSRF, the Ye People’s Defense Force (YPDF), and the Revolutionary Alliance Forces.
Before the fighting, the MSRF and PDF’s 33rd Strategic Drone Coalition Force dropped two bombs on the Ahnin Police Station in Thanbyuzayat Township on February 21, and the military junta, which was hurt, was launched a second drone attack as the junta soldiers
advanced towards Hnitkayin village.
The spokesman added that the Junta soldiers suffered heavy casualties during the attack, but the exact details are still being investigated.
“They were attacked and then advanced towards the military lines. They are attacking everywhere. Now, the front line is open. In northern Ye, they are using too much force,” said a PDF comrade operating in northern Ye.
During the fighting, the junta is continuously firing heavy weapons and is also carrying out drone strikes, he added.
The fighting between the two sides has forced some locals to flee, but they have returned home after the battlefield fell silent, according to locals.
The military junta, which is currently stationed throughout Ye Township, is reportedly arresting locals, extorting money, and taking valuables from their homes.
