Fierce clashes between the military and the revoluttionary forces in Sankywe Village, Hpakant Township, Kachin State, resulted in the deaths of about 20 people on the military junta side.

At around 4 am on September 6, the military junta’s military columns entered the Ma Mone-Phar Pyin Village and Hmaw Taung-Sankywe Village in Hpakant Township.

All households in villages in Thanbyuzayat Township, Mon State, are being reportedly paid a monthly fee to the military junta to avoid military service and being drafted.

It is also reported that villages in Thanbyuzayat Township have started paying military service fees since February 2024, when the military junta enacted the Military Service Law.

In addition, there are at least 95 villages in Thanbyuzayat Township, most of which are large villages with an average of at least 3,000 households per village.

The villagers pay 5,000 kyats per household per month to the ward cheifs, who then pay it to the officials of the No. 4 Military Training School based in Weakali Village, which is responsible for the administration and military operations in Thanbyuzayat Township.

In Insein and other townships in Yangon, those who do not want to vote for military service are being paid 5,000 kyats per month or 60,000 kyats per year, a local told BBM.

“We are paying them in the form of understanding, we pay them about 60,000 kyats a year, but if we pay them, we are afraid of being exposed if we go out, and we are afraid because it is a long-term situation,”

Local sources said that the military junta is secretly arresting those who have been involved with the Kokang Army (MNDAA) in Lashio City in northern Shan State through informants.

The revolutionary forces attacked the Pyu Saw Htee camp based in Tet Wun village, Natmauk Township, Magway Division, killing 5 members of Pyu Saw Htee and seizing some weapons and ammunition, the Thayet District No. (3) Battalion, Ngarpyayma Guerrilla Force announced today.

The revolutionary forces led by guerrilla warfare battalion branch of the No.3 Ngarpyayma Battalion, along with allied forces, attacked Pyu Saw Htee’s headquarters Bo Htun and members of Pyu Saw Htee group at 5:10 a.m. today, and the battle lasted about 40 minutes, an official from the Thayet District No. (3) Battalion, Ngarpyayma Guerrilla Force told BBM.

Five members of Pyu Saw Htee group, including Pyu Saw Htee leader Bo Htun, were killed in the battle.

“Five members were killed. There were no injuries. All of them died. They were the ones who were causing trouble to the local people,”

an official from the 3rd Battalion of the Tharet District’s Ngarpyayma Guerrilla Force told BBM. During the fighting, a vehicle belonging to the Pyu Saw Htee members was destroyed, and a 22-point hand-made pistol, (5) M1 carbines, (95) carbine bullets, (2) shotguns,(30) shotgun bullets, (2) hand grenades, 100,000 kyats in cash, military uniforms, (4) phones, and a military service book were seized.

On September 2, yesterday morning, a joint military column of the military junta and Pyu Saw Htee troops broke into and looted houses in Thu Soe village, Natogyi Township, and then set fire to Thu Soe village.
