🟥Thai government sends emergency alerts and SMS messages

Thai government has sent emergency alerts at around 3:30 and 5:30 local time to take precautions as the Thai-Myanmar border has been hit by Cyclone Wipha, which has caused flooding in low-lying areas of Mae Sot town in Tak province.

Due to heavy rain, Thaung Yin River has reached the danger level, and relief workers and Thai soldiers can be seen standing by near the Thailand-Myanmar No. 1 Bridge.

The emergency alert said that Mae Sai River has risen, causing flooding in the villages of Phop Phra, Mae Ramat, Mae Sot,and Tha Song Yang along the river. So, People living in low-lying areas in these districts have been warned to move valuables and essential items to higher ground.

The warning also states that the river will rise at 6pm on July 23, 2025.

“The last thing we have to do is running away from home. We have to leave our homes and run away,”

said a local resident in Mae Tao Mai. On July 26, 2024,Thaung Yin River suddenly overflowed its banks, causing flooding that submerged cars in Myawaddy, Myanmar, and Mae Sot, Thailand.

Currently, in 2025, social rescue teams on the Thai side are on standby and the government is sending out SMS alerts to all citizens.
