🟥The military junta is continuously reinforcing battalions and outposts in the city

The fighting was intense between the military junta and the AA near the Shwe Mingan naval base in Sittwe, Rakhine State, on August 5.

A local resident familiar with the military situation in Sittwe said that the military is continuously reinforcing Shwe Mingan naval base in Sittwe, and the AA is firing artillery shells and shooting at the military junta’s soldiers who are marching near the naval base, which is why the clashes are intense.

“There are clashes near Shwe Mingan naval base. The military junta is continuously reinforcing the AA, and the AA is threatening to fire artillery shells. They are also intercepting the military’s advance,”

a military source in Sittwe said. In addition, BBM has learned that there are military tensions between the military and the AA as the military has reinforced forward outposts in Sittwe Township, such as Kantkaw Kyun, Thone Saung village, Ah Myint Kyun, and Pardaleik.

In early August, AA military sources also reported that the AA had been continuously firing heavy weapons at the outposts in front of Ah Myint Kyun and Pardaleik since the military had been reinforcing them from the battalions in Sittwe.

“At the beginning of this month, there was military tension on both sides. There were heavy weapons firing on both sides. The military is also sending reinforcements to Ah Myint Kyun and Pardaleik outposts. So, we hear that the AA is also attacking whenever it has the military advantage,”

the military source added. To this day, the 908th Field Engineer Battalion (908th Field Engineer Battalion) near Kyar Mathauk village, Ah Myint Kyun, Ponakyun residents reported heavy weapons fire from forward outposts such as Pardaleik.

After months of siege and blockade of Sittwe, the Arakan Army (AA) launched an offensive against outposts near villages such as Ah Myint Kyun, Pardaleik, Yae Chan Pyin and Kyar Mathauk in early February.

In Sittwe, there are infantry and rapid-fire units under the command of the Regional Command and the 20th Infantry Division, 232nd Infantry Division, 270th Infantry Division, 344th Infantry Division, 354th Infantry Division, as well as the 12th and 36th Police Battalions.
