The AA and the joint coalition PDF forces attacked the military junta’s outposts near Set Set Yo and Let Tang Nge villages in Lay Myethna Township, Ayeyarwady Division, killing over 40 MMK soldiers and seizing a large number of small arms and ammunition, military sources close to the AA told BBM.

The AA and the joint coalition PDF forces have been attacking the outposts in Set Set Yo and Let Tan Nge villages in Lay Myethna Township since August 1, and on the evening of August 7, they seized more than 40 small arms and ammunition, including 2 snipers and 1 RPG.

“The fighting is happening almost every day these days. Yesterday, more than 40 military junta’s soldiers were killed in the fighting in Set Set Yo village. Most of the weapons have been seized,”

said a military source close to the AA. The AA and the allied PDF are continuing to attack villages along the Pathein-Monywa road in Lay Myethna Township and are also continuing to attack areas near Set Set Yo village.

The military junta’s airstrikes have also been met with heavy artillery fire from the Nga Thaing Chaung Artillery (344) as well as drones, military sources in Ayeyarwady Region said.

“I heard that the fighting is fierce in Lay Myethna. That’s why the 344th Battalion is constantly firing heavy weapons day and night. Heavy military vehicles are also going down that side. I think they are going to replenish their forces,”

said a local resident in his 60s from Nga Thaing Chaung Township. On July 27, the military junta’s air force also bombed villages such as Set Sat Yo, Saw Pyar, and Kyar Kite Kwin in Lay Myethna Township due to the offensive by the AA and the PDF.

The military junta has deployed tanks, military equipment, and three warships from the Pathein-based Southwestern Military District and the 26th Battalion of the Pathein Naval Headquarters to replenish its forces in Lay Myethna Township to counter the offensive by the AA and the PDF in Ayeyarwady Division.

Similarly, the military junta has recently reinforced the Yae Nantthar checkpoint at the intersection of the Gwa-Nga Thaing Road and the Pathein-Monywa Road from the 36th Battalion based in Kyonpyaw, and BBM has learned that the military junta is advancing through that checkpoint into areas controlled by the revolutionary forces in Lay Myethna Township.
