The military junta has retaken some of its positions in the town of Bamauk in the upper Sagaing Region with a 500-strong force.

The military junta, which is composed of about 500 military junta soldiers and the Shanni Army, has been attacking Bamauk from the Homalin side since October 4.

Since October 4, the offensive has been ongoing, and the revolutionary forces have retreated from some villages within around 5 miles away from the town.

“Yes, the military junta has entered Bamauk. It is marching, so we have to retreat a little bit. The military situation is still very intense,”

a comrade on the ground told BBM. Although the military junta has said that the 33rd Brigade is leading the advance in the column, the majority of the Shanni Army soldiers and militia are wearing the 33rd Brigade’s uniforms and are carrying out the battle on the ground.

In addition, the column has a total strength of about 500, but on the ground, only about 200 are carrying out the main operations, according to the comrade.

“They said they were marching with the 33rd Brigade. In fact, it was not the 33rd Brigade. They are just the military junta supporters and Shanni National Army, and they brought the 33rd’s uniforms. These guys are a few hundred strong. If I estimate, if these guys, the front lines and the rear are all together, there will be more than four hundred, almost five hundred. Their strength on the ground is not that much, only two hundred or three hundred,”

the comrade added. In addition, on October 5, the military junta also cleared the areas where the battle took place with air support and reinforced the lines from the ground.

In addition, during the battle, the military side also used not only air support but also large agricultural products drones to attack.

“Drones were also used a lot. These guys used drones a lot. They also came in from the air from time to time. Most of them used drones. These drones are eight (8) heavy-lift drones, agricultural drones,”

the comrade continued. The current military junta is in the vicinity of Khamoe and Settaw villages, five (5) miles around Bamauk town, and fierce battle is taking place with the revolutionary forces.
