A clash broke out between the military junta and the joint revolutionary forces near Lawt Thaing village in Ye Phyu Township, Tanintharyi Region, and the military junta soldiers suffered casualties, according to the ground revolutionary forces.

At around 7 am on October 8, hundreds of military junta troops who had advanced in their lines were intercepted by the joint revolutionary forces between Kywe Talin village and Lawt Thaing village.

“They (the military junta soldiers) came from the direction of Rar Phu, and there was a revolutionary group on this side, and they started shooting. It seems that these guys were injured, so they immediately retreated,”a ground revolutionary comrade told BBM.

After half an hour of exchange of fire, at least four members of the military junta were killed and many were injured.

The joint revolutionary forces have not released any details.

During the clash, a road was blocked, but it was said that traffic was restored to normal after a few hours.

“There had been no clash here for a long time, about a month now, and now that it’s happening again, the villagers are scared of battles. We don’t know how it will continue. We are still in the village,” a man from Lawt Thaing village said.

Since the end of July, the revolutionary joint forces and the military junta have been fighting fiercely along the No.8 Union Road in Ye Phyu Township, where both sides have been fighting since the end of last year.

The battle has caused roadblocks, forced more than 5,000 civilians to flee, and resulted in civilian casualties, according to reports.

Since the battle between the two sides began to halt in mid-September, most of the displaced people in Ye Phyu Township have returned to their homes, and within days, the battle has broken out again.

The revolutionary forces said that the military junta forces, which are trying to clear the area and regain the No.8 Union Road , including the lost areas, are advancing towards villages in Ye Phyu Township, so the battle is still intense on both sides.
