The battle has continued to be fierce at the Phawt Taw junction on the Mandalay-Mogok road, with many casualties on both sides after military junta has recaptured it.

The Myanmar Military Junta has been preparing for months to capture their Phawt Taw junction, conducting airstrikes and launching military operations, but it was only on October 14 that the Phawt Taw junction was recaptured.

The Phawt Taw junction is only about 50 kilometers away from Mogok and
it is known to be a key point between Mandalay, Singu, Mogok, Thabeikkyin, Htigyaing, and Bahmo, and it is also a must-pass junction for those coming from Singu and Thabeikkyin to Mogok.

The military junta is now continuing to advance towards Mogok after gaining the said Phawt Taw junction, while the revolutionary forces are also re-attacking to regain Phawt Taw junction, a ground revolutionary comrade told BBM.

“Yes, it is true that the military junta has gained Phawt Taw, and we are also fighting to regain it, so the battle is fierce. The news that Phawt Taw junction will be closed and the military will advance towards Mogok is true, and we have also heard that news,”

a ground revolutionary comrade told BBM. In addition, fierce battle has been going on between the military junta and the revolutionary forces, who are preparing to advance towards Mogok through Phawt Taw junction.

During the battle for Phawt Taw junction, TNLA forces, Mogok Strategic Battalion, Mandalay PDF, Battalions from Pyin Oo Lwin district and other revolutionary forces are also attacking.

During the battle, the military junta suffered many casualties due to the revolutionary forces’ attacks, and the revolutionary forces suffered from the military junta drones, another military source on the ground told BBM.

“It’s severe, Sir. I can say that there are many casualties on both sides. There are also many casualties on the side of the revolutionary coalition because of drone strikes.There are many groups including Mogok Strategic Battalion,Pyin Oo Lwin district and other groups,”

In addition, the military source added that the military junta gained an advantage in the battle for Hsipaw in northern Shan State, and the military junta’s columns were able to enter Hsipaw city last night after the military junta gained an advantage in Phawt Taw.

“The city of Hsipaw has also been captured, Sir. It was captured just after 7 o’clock last night,”

The military source added. Since early 2025, the military junta has changed from a defensive stance to an offensive stance, and has been able to retake not only Naung Cho, Kyaukme, and Hsipaw in northern Shan, but also Thabeikkyin and the strategically important Phawt Taw junction in Mandalay Region.
