Thousands of local residents are fleeing as military junta members stationed at MCL cement factory were shelling heavy weapons in Kyaikmaraw Township

Thousands of local residents have fled and their homes had been ransacked as military junta troops stationed at the MCL cement factory were shelling heavy weapons in Kyaikmaraw Township, Mon State, according to local residents.

More than 300 military junta troops are stationed around the MCL cement factory in Kyaikmaraw Township.

A resident of Kawt Dun village told BBM that the military junta troops stationed and there are often shelling the heavy weapons where revolutionary forces may be present, so the residents are afraid of falling heavy weapons on homes and injuring people.

“Karen soldiers are shooting at the places where Mon soldiers are and they are not in the village, the Karen soldiers are shooting even if Mon soldiers are not there. Besides, the heavy weapons are falling in the village. And the drones are coming continuously. Now the villagers are afraid and don’t dare to stay. Now they have all fled,” he said.

He added that the military junta groups usually fire 10 to 20 rounds at a time, and so far, there have been no civilian casualties.

Currently, thousands of residents from nearly ten villages, including Kadone Si, Kawt Dun, Kawt Panaw, Wea Ngae, and Kya Khat Kone, have fled to the city and surrounding areas.

In addition, another local resident said that the military junta troops have entered villages near their positions and stolen and carried away their belongings.

On September 30, they also stole Thai goods stored in some houses in Kadone Si village.

“This side does not sell Thai goods. Traders keep them in their houses. The soldiers went in and loaded them all into a 6-wheeler. This is not the only one. They also searched other houses and took whatever they wanted.”

Hundreds of military junta members , they started to penetrate through MCL cement factory intouppeon October 26.

According to local residents, when ther military junta entered, they arrested people they met on the road and asked them about the information and location of the revolutionary forces.
