Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army-ARSA killed 1 local resident in Maungdaw Township, Rakhine State, according to Maungdaw residents.

The deceased has been identified as U Oo Shwi Thein(63), son of U Asoe Maung, from Ngwe Taung Village, Maungdaw Township.

On November 7, at around 11 am, U Oo Shwi Thein (63) from Ngwe Taung Village, Maungdaw Township is missing while going to herd cattle in the vicinity of Kyant Chaung Village, north of the village.

The missing U Oo Shwi Thein (63) did not return home from herding cattle, so the villagers searched for him and found his body mutilated over neck by ARSA at around 7:30 am on November 8.

“It’s impossible to leave one village alone in this area. Locals are being killed, and travelers are being ambushed by ARSA on the way,” a Maungdaw resident said.

On October 22, five travelers from Zaydi Pyin Village, Rathedaung Township, to Kyauk Pandu Village, Maungdaw Township were ambushed by Muslim armed group ARSA, killing two travellers and injuring two others, the AA reported.

Similarly, on October 24, six civilians, including a young woman, were herding cattle near Mayu Mountain, east of Kin Chaung Village, Maungdaw Township, when Muslim armed group ARSA intercepted them on the way and abducted three civilians, including a young woman, who have not been found yet, according to Maungdaw local residents.

ARSA, RSO, ARA, RIM -Muslim armed groups are active along the Nat River and along the Wailar Mountain in northern Maungdaw Township, and are ambushing, abducting and killing civilians daily, according to local residents.
