In Hpakant Township, Kachin State, the battle between the military junta and revolutionary forces is intense again, with casualties on both sides.

On November 25, the military junta troops advanced into the Nyaungpin Kone camp near Sankywe village in Hpakant Township, where revolutionary forces are located, and into the Lone Khin and Kuday Maw areas.

The revolutionary forces ambushed the military junta troops as they advanced, resulting in clashes starting at 6:30 p.m. yesterday.

A military source on the ground said that many of the military junta’s members including commanders were killed in the clashes.

“The battle took place at Nyaungpin Kone near Sankywe, and another took place at Lone Khin and Kuday Maw. The battle began at around 6:30 p.m. I heard that the platoon commander was among the dead,” he said.

In addition, during the battle near Kuday Maw, the military junta was said to have used heavy weapons and drones to bomb the area.

The heavy weapons fired by the military junta hit the fire station, the spirit house and the Baptist church in Kuday Maw, causing an explosion. The heavy weapons were hit and a firefighter named U Ye Htun was injured.

“Yesterday, heavy weapons and drones were used a lot. In Kuday Maw, three shells fell on the people, and firefighter U Ye Htun was injured. He is currently medical treatment,” he added.

Because military supporters’ gave information to military junta, the military junta had dropped drone bombs on the areas where the revolutionary forces were located in the morning, killing a revolutionary comrade.

Due to the battle and clashes, the military junta is currently camped at the temple in Kutday Maw village and is conducting more interrogations of local residents.
