🟥People are facing difficulties due to high fares as the number of refugees are increasing

According to local residents, the military situation in Mogok is complicated and various reports are coming out, so many people are panicking and fleeing the city again.

On October 29, after the TNLA and the military junta met in Kunming to discuss the military situation with China, the TNLA announced that it would withdraw from Mogok and Momeik.

Following the TNLA’s statement, the MDY-PDF, Mogok Strategy, TRI Strategy, Myingyan Black Tiger and other revolutionary forces that are conducting military operations around Mogok and Momeik have made statements to defend Mogok and Momeik, and have also sent reinforcements to these areas.

However, there are also reports that the TNLA will bring their own military junta troops to Mogok and will withdraw after the military junta has already stationed.

Due to the various reports and the complicated situation, most of the residents of Mogok are worried and are fleeing the city again, a local resident told BBM.

“People in Mogok have already displaced it, about 80 percent have displaced it. They are fleeing every day. There are not many people in the city anymore. In Kyauk Waing (Jade and Gemstones Market), there used to be many motorcycle lanes, but now there are only two lanes. Those who cannot flee it have to make preparations to stay at home,” he said.

The people who have fled the war are mainly moving to big cities like Yangon and Mandalay, but they have also fled to Mong Lon, Ma Bein, Kyaukme, Naung Cho and Laiza.

In addition, because there are so many people who have fled the war, car and transportation fees are high, and the cost of traveling from Mogok to Mandalay is about 5 lakhs kyats per person, he added.

“Most of the people who are fleeing the war are mainly from Mandalay and Yangon. Some who cannot go far, go to Mong Lon, Ma Bein, and Laiza. The car fare is around 5 lakhs, 5.5 lakhs, and 6lakhs kyats for AD Vans. It is 2.5 lakhs kyats for light trucks and mini trucks to Mandalay,” he said.

People fleeing the war to areas controlled by the military junta face concerns, from the guest registration list to being dragged by military servicemen and porters, and locals said that those who are fleeing to liberated areas are also worried about military junta’s air force.
