In Mandalay Region, Thazi Township, the civilians were forced their children to join the military junta because military junta has asked them to pay 500 lakhs kyats to be ransomed if they are caught, a source close to the matter told BBM on December 4.
“Now, they are being threatened with 25,000 kyats per house, and if they don’t give them, they will be forced to recruit and take the military junta, and if they are forcibly recruited, they need to pay 500 lakhs kyats and if they don’t give money, the military junta will kill,” the source said.
In villages in Thazi Township, the price of a plot of land is 30 lakhs kyats, and 300,000 kyats for a 4-acre plot of land, the military junta is demanding money like that is similar to compelling them to join the military junta.
Currently, in Thazi Township, from the administrators of Thae Pon, Yin Zin and Thae Kone village tracts, the solider of the Solidarity Party, to ten-household heads, they are treating the public as enemies and threatening them with military service fees.
“Among these three village tracts, Aung Aung from Thae Kone village is famous in the village, and his subordinate, the ten-household head of Thae Kone village, Khway Thoe, is the same. He is over 70 years old and empty-headed person.”
The administrator, Aung Aung, and the ten-household head of Thae Kone village, Khway Thoe, are said to drink alcohol and abuse in strong language almost every night.
“Every night, they drink together, and I don’t think they dare to go out anywhere else. They drink together at Aung Aung’s house. When they get drunk, they dare to do anything with their weapons what they wish,” the source said.
On December 2, he also shouted through a loudspeaker that every household must attend a meeting for illegal military service.
“Yesterday, he shouted through a loudspeaker that every household must attend a meeting for national military service,” he said.
One of the drinking buddies of Aung Aung was Aung Ko Win, a clerk from Nyaung Yan, south of Thazi Township, who has been got married with daughter of Ko Tin Soe from Thae Pone village and has been lived in Thae Pon and threaten others, just like Aung Aung.
“Aung Aung and Khway Thoe are always drinking together, he gets drunk every night, he has made problems since he comes here. The clerk Aung Ko Win is asking the military junta to come the houses that are not registered, whether they pay the military service fee of 25,000 kyats or not, and he is asking them to come in at night and arrested the people if they aren’t able to pay the money.”
The military junta is set to start the 20th batch of military service in mid-December, and the Rangoon Scout Network has warned that there could be more recruitment issues before the start of the military service.
