A local source told BBM that the parents of the two young men had offered to pay 500 lakhs kyats each to the military junta, but the military junta did not accept their offer.

“The two men from Maggi Su village were forcibly recruited from their jobs and were not offered 50 lakhs kyats immediately after they were recruited.”
