A local resident told BBM that two bombs were exploded with the drone near the Thein Than Store street near the No.1 Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge in Myawaddy, Myawaddy Township, Karen State.
The explosion occurred at 10:24 p.m. on December 6, at the corner of Bayint Naung Road and Patamyar Road between Thein Than Store street and the corner of Bayint Naung Road, and no one was injured.
“It was small, it fell in the street, so it was not easy to hit houses, and it was also a good thing that it was night,” he said.
A Myanmar migrant worker told BBM that the sound of the drone bomb falling could be heard clearly from Mae Sot, Thailand.
“It was around 11:10 p.m. on this side. I think the heavy weapons fell on the Thailand side. The sound was so loud. And there was battle on the Minletpan side, so I don’t think it was this bridge.”
BBM could not independently confirm which armed group carried out the drone attack.
Currently, battle is ongoing in Minletpan village in Myawaddy Township between the KNU, the Revolutionary Joint Forces and the military junta. On December 6, heavy weapons fell on the Thailand side, prompting the Thai military to respond with smoke bombs.
As a result of the battle, at least 300 displaced people are stranded on the banks of the Thaung Yin River west of Minletpan village and are in need of assistance.
