Election equipment, including important documents, were burnt down in some government offices, including the general office of Yebyu township, Tanintharyi Region, according to local revolutionary forces.
On the morning of December 12, the revolutionary joint forces attacked the main positions of the military junta in Yebyu township.
After the attack, some government offices, including Yebyu Township Administrative Office, the immigration office, the Yebyu Township police station, and the joint office, were burned, a comrade who operates in Yebyu township, who did not want to be named, told BBM.
“We burned all the important offices, so they burned all the election equipment that they used in the upcoming election that were there. We destroyed everything, and we destroyed all the documents from the immigration office and the voter registration papers.”
According to a press release from the military junta, the Yebyu Township police station, administrative office, the Joint Office, the Forest department, the bank and the staff housing were all destroyed.
Many important documents were destroyed, but the military junta was not harmed.
According to BBM’s military sources and some comrades active in Yebyu Township, there were people who were captured during the Yebyu battle.
They are investigating whether they are related to the military junta.
“We know that there are people who have been captured, and we are investigating whether they are non-CDM employees, civilians, soldiers, and what kind of people,” said a military source.
We contacted the revolutionary forces involved in the battle to find out more, but the revolutionary forces said that they will not release more details.
“A lot of soldiers have arrived and are clearing the area. We were not allowed to go near the offices. According to what people in the city said, if the firebrigade does not arrive, everything will burn down. Now, they have deployed a large number of soldiers around there,” said a Yebyu resident.
Several military sources said that although the large number of military junta troops arriving by the ship are currently clearing the area and advancing towards the revolutionary forces, there has been no further battles with the revolutionary forces.
Some camps were captured in the battle, but due to the situation, they were forced to retreat after being burned down.
