Richard A drone bomb exploded in Sakhan Gyi village, Laung Lone Township, Tanintharyi Region, killing 3 civilians and injuring 3 others, according to local residents.
The drone bomb exploded in Sakhan Gyi at around 2pm on January 20.
“There were a lot of damage, the two houses were damaged, and family members were killed and many were elderly in bomb explosion,” a resident of Sakhan Gyi village who works in Laung Lone told BBM.
The bomb explosion killed three people, Daw Malar, Daw Cho, and Ma Khin Mar Aye,injured a child and a woman and a man who are receiving treatment.
According to some locals, the drone dropped the bombs when the military junta and the officials of governmental offices were in Sakhan Gyi village regarding the election.
Therefore, there are speculations that the attack may have been carried out by the revolutionary forces, but BBM has not been able to confirm it.
It has not yet been announced which group carried out the attack, and BBM tried to contact the groups operating in the area, but BBM has not been able to do so.
“We have heard that the revolutionary groups did it, because they said that both soldiers and officials were in the village that day, and the explosion must have been not far from where the soldiers and their group were,” the local resident added.
Another mine was planted on the convoy of the military junta joint troops that was returning from Sakhan Gyi village after completing the voter registration process, but it is not yet known whether it was damaged.
Elections are scheduled to be held in some village tracts, including the urban wards and the village tracts of Laung Lone Township, which are included in the election phase (3).
Therefore, although the military junta soldiers have tightened security in the areas where they control to prevent attacks of the revolutionary forces, the military base camp, including the area in Laung Lone Township, is still being attacked by the revolutionary forces.
