The military junta has bombed Falam Town, Chin State, and is conducting reconnaissance on Mindat, Matupi Town, local residents told BBM.

The military junta dropped 500-pound bombs on their 268th Battalion base in Falam Town at 9pm yesterday, January 19, and also dropped three bombs on Somyan Village at 9:30pm yesterday.

“They bombed the entrance to their 268th Infantry Battalion. There was no one there. There was damage, but we haven’t checked the details yet. They also bombed Somyan Village. There was fighting in that village, but there was no fighting last night,” a local from Falam Township told BBM.

The airstrike on the village of Somyan last night did not cause any casualties.

The military junta conducted several airstrikes on Somyan village on January 18, after fierce fighting between the Chin Revolutionary Fotce and the military junta, which resulted in many casualties of junta soldiers, and last night, the military junta conducted another airstrike on Somyan village.

Today, January 20, in the morning, there were still jet fighters scouting over Falam Township.

On January 14, the military junta also bombed Lente village, destroying two churches and several houses.

Similarly, a jet fighter was conducting reconnaissance in Mindat, Matupi Township today, January 20, at around 12 noon.

“Not in the city, but in the villages, they flew a reconnaissance plane around in the afternoon to scout. It took a long time. In the past, if a reconnaissance plane came, it would bomb, but now civilians are worried about being bombed,” a local resident of Matupi told BBM.

In Chin State, the military junta has been continuously carrying out airstrikes on towns and villages that they have lost control of.

Due to such airstrikes, civilians in areas controlled by the Chin Revolutionary Forces are afraid of staying in towns and villages, but have been forced to move to the forests and mountains to flee the war.
