A soldier fired at a corporal in the Htilin Administration Office in Magway Region, trying to kill him and fleeing, so the military junta blocked the roads of the town to find him, locals told BBM.

Yesterday, January 31, a soldier from the 99th Regiment Division stationed at the Htilin Administration Office and his sergeant got into an argument.

“During the argument, a soldier fired at the corporal, who fled outside the town,” a Hilin resident told BBM.

In an attempt to arrest the escaped soldier, the military junta is blocking roads in the town and conducting a search in the surrounding forests.

“Yesterday, the roads in the city were blocked and the soldier was searched, but he has not been caught yet. Today, the search is still ongoing in the forests and mountains near the city. The soldiers are also deployed in the city, and they are desperately searching,” a resident of Htilin told BBM.

The sergeant who was shot was seriously injured and is currently receiving emergency medical treatment.
