Over 1,000 refugees in Narhee Village, Mauk Mae Township, southern Shan State, are in urgent need of food, according to local residents.
The refugees arrived in the first week of February and are currently surviving on rice and vegetables donated by villagers.
“There is not enough food because there are a lot of refugees. When they fled suddenly, they only brought important documents and household lists. They had to leave all their rice and paddy crops behind,” a refugee said.
In addition to food, they are also in urgent need of medicine, pads, mosquito nets, and clothing.
The refugees are from Kadu Gyi Village Tract, such as Banmat, Maihai, Htitaphyay, Kyaungnar, Hanbwa villages and have a total of over 200 households.
Most of the displaced people are living in the schools, monasteries and rest houses in Narhee village.
Currently, the Pa-O militia PNO is still advancing towards Banmat village, and local residents said that there are daily clashes with the Pa-O National Liberation Army (PNLA).
