သူရိန် After MNDAA took control of Theinni township, Chinese businessmen came to Theinni and prostitution flourished, but there is a shortage of jobs among Burmese people .
Locals say that due to this shortage of jobs, Myanmar girls are being prostituted on Chinese sugarcane trucks.
“We even see Chinese drivers who deliver sugarcane to the truck and pick up prostitutes,” said a local man.
Not only that, brothels have become so numerous that they seem to be indispensable in areas with Chinese residents, he said.
“In the past, there was only one hotel and one guesthouse in Theinni Township. Now, there are about nine hotels, massage parlors, and KTVs on the main road. I don’t know how many there are in the city ,” said another local man.
He said that hotels already have massage parlors and KTVs, and the businessmen are Chinese, MNDAA officials and their relatives.
He said that the people who operate these KTVs and massage parlors and prostitution businesses are young girls from lower Myanmar regions, Kachin State.
In Theinni, after the Northern Alliance’s Operation 1027, KTVs, massage parlors and prostitution businesses have come to Theinni, and locals say that these businesses are increasing.
Although there are job opportunities, local residents are worried that the lack of jobs and the hardships of the local people due to consequences of the war and young girls are being forced to prostitute themselves.
