The military council detonated mines at an underground hospital built by the National Unity Government (NUG) in Natogyi Township, Mandalay Region, according to local sources.
On February 18, military council soldiers entered the underground hospital built by the NUG government in Natogyi Township and detonated mines, and military lobby Telegram channels broadcast a video of the hospital being destroyed on February 19.
The hospital staff and patients had been evacuated from the hospital for about 10 days in the second week of February before military junta entered, so there were no casualties.
“The military junta carried out the airstrikes in late 2025. Since then, the location of the hospital has been estimated. After that, hundreds of troops have been deployed. Thus, the location of this underground hospital may have been discovered through surveillance drones,” the military source said.
The 100-bed underground hospital was built by the NUG government at a cost of more than 1.2 billion kyats, and treatment began in late 2024.
