During the fighting in Moe Bye on the Shan-Karen border, the military junta used a large number of Pa-O National Organization (PNO/PNA) troops and militia trainees to forcefully enter the area, as well as using air and heavy weapons, causing the rebel forces to temporarily surrender some areas in Moe Bye, according to local sources.

The Moe Bye town was captured by revolutionary forces in November 2023 and they were able to take control of all areas except for the Dam Guard Battalion (422) near the Moe Bye Dam.

The military junta also launched an offensive against the town of Moe Bye, which was controlled by the revolutionary forces, with their allied PNO forces, which are experts in the field, starting in November 2024, and the fighting was intense.

“Now, there are a lot of civilian conscripts and PNOs, and they are all coming in by force,” a local military source told BBM.

Furthermore, the military junta is using not only ground forces but also air, drone, and heavy weapons to retake Moe Bye, forcing the revolutionary forces to temporarily surrender some areas in Moe Bye.

“The military junta is firing a lot of heavy weapons with drones, some military positions have been forced to retreat, and these guys are even attacking the old Moe Bye police station,” the source continued.

“Although it is true that the revolutionary forces have given up some areas in Moe Bye in recent days, they have not yet surrendered the entire city,” BBM also received initial information from the investigation.

Moe Bye town is only 130 kilometers away from Loikaw, the capital of Karenni State, and is in a position to threaten nearby towns controlled by the revolutionary forces with heavy weapons. The military junta is forcing an offensive, while the revolutionary forces are continuing to fight to keep the entire town.
