The Military junta is redeploying howitzers to Battalion 41 near the Union Road near Lashio in northern Shan State, according to local resources.

The Military junta which regained Lashio from the Kokang National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) in April 2025, has been redeploying troops and replenishing military equipment and is now redeploying howitzers.

In addition, the howitzers are aimed at Kyaukme and Thibaw townships in northern Shan State, which are controlled by the revolutionary forces.

“We have seen howitzers being redeployed in the Battalion 41 and they are aimed at Kyaukme and Hsipaw” a local military source told BBM.

In addition, the military junta is sending ground troops to Lashio via Tangyang, where its military administration is based and is deploying them to the 41st Battalion, 626th Battalion, and the Military Security Force in Lashio.

Local sources also said that many of the military junta’s barracks in the city were destroyed during the Lashio battle between the MNDAA and allied rebel forces and have yet to be repaired.

In addition, most of the military junta soldiers who arrived in Lashio to reinforce their forces are wearing only the Myanmar flag and badges without the insignia of their battalions or units, and are immediately stationed at important military locations in Lashio, the source added.

“The newly arrived military junta soldiers do not have the insignia of their battalions or units, they only have the Burmese flag. I don’t know what kind of groups they are. I don’t know if they are terrorist groups or not. As soon as they arrived, they took over all the important places that the Lashio militia had previously secured” , a local resident told BBM.

The military junta is reportedly demanding the return of all the areas controlled by the revolutionary forces on the Mandalay-Muse road, including Lashio, which they lost during Operation 1027, from the MNDAA with the help of China and is holding negotiations.
