Local military sources say that the military junta troops have reached the area of the TNLA and the 114th Infantry Battalion, which is 2 miles away from the entrance to Naung Cho town in northern Shan State and the fighting is intense.

The TNLA-led revolutionary alliance forces completely captured Naung Cho town in July 2025, during the second wave of Operation 1027, and have been working to restore the administrative machinery in the township.

The military junta has been attacking with two main lines from Taung Kham village and Pyin Oo Lwin township since February 2025 to regain the lost Naung Cho town and has now reached within 2 miles of Naung Cho town.

“The military junta’s columns coming from Pyin Oo Lwin have already reached the outskirts of the 114th Infantry Division but they haven’t reached the end yet. Battalion (114) is about (2) miles from the city. If it goes beyond that, it’s already close to the city,”

a military source on the ground in Naung Cho told BBM. The military columns coming from Pyin Oo Lwin are also advancing towards the outskirts of Naung Cho Taung Ward, Kyauk Kyan Village, around 114th Infantry Division,Tha Pyay Yae Village, and Yae Lint Village.

In addition, the military columns coming from Taung Kham have also reached the outskirts of Naung Cho, and some of the columns that have split off from these columns are marching towards the Goke Hteik Bridge in Naung Cho, the military source added.

“It’s 2 miles away from Pyin Oo Lwin, and on the edge of the city on the Taung Kham side. The military line from Naung Cho Gyi has reached the top of the mountain, so the situation in the mountain is also worrying.”

The military junta’s council is using more than a thousand soldiers on the ground to retake Naung Cho, and is using drones, heavy weapons, and multiple rockets, as well as air strikes, according to ground sources.
