After controlling Naung Cho, the military junta is marching on the villages on the Mogok road and the villages on the other side of the Goke Hteik
The military junta has regained control of almost all neighborhoods in Naung Cho town in northern Shan State, and TNLA-led rebel forces are retreating from the town, according to military sources on the ground.
The military junta launched an offensive with two main lines from Taung Kham Village and Pyin Oo Lwin Township to retake Naung Cho Town. The lines now entering Naung Cho Town are said to be coming from Taung Kham Village.
It is reported that the military junta’s columns coming from Taung Kham Village attacked and occupied the Taung Ward, Zay Ward, and Pahat Wards in the south of Naung Cho Town and entered the town.
“There are (6) wards in the city, almost all of them have been taken back, and the part of the mountain south of Naung Cho (including Bant Bwe) has also been taken,”
a local military source told BBM. Naung Cho Township is made up of 6 wards, 35 village tracts, and a total of over 180 villages. The military junta is reportedly in a position to regain control of all six wards and 26 village tracts in the township.
In addition, while the military junta is marching Naung Cho town, it is reported that it is working to capture the Thonese village on the Kyaukme-Monglon road, and is also attacking Thanbo village, which can be continued to Mogok, Madaya, and Singu.
If the military junta were to recapture these villages, it could create a new front of concern not only for Kyaukme town in Shan State, which is controlled by the revolutionary forces, but also for the Mogok, Thabeikkyin, Madaya, and Singu areas in Mandalay Region.
“If the military junta gets Thonese Village, it will be quite worrying for the revolutionary groups. From Thonese Village, it can go either from Mong Lon-Kyaukme road via Pintee-Namkel Aik-Seik Phu to Kyaukme or from Mong Lon. If the military junta gets Than Bo, it will not only go to Mogok but also go down to Madaya-Singu -Thabeikkyin, which is a concern,”
the military source continued. Since the military junta announced that it will hold new elections starting this coming December, they have been trying to reclaim the territories they lost through talks and have been attacking with air, artillery and ground forces.
