A civilian woman in Taungtha Township, Mandalay Region was allegedly raped by the military junta’s police after they arrested her for questioning.
On the evening of September 7, a 20-year-old villager woman who had come to fetch water from Minkan village was arrested and raped by the police who were guarding the Chinese gas pipeline near the Boebwa Gate in Minkan village.
The woman was arrested on the pretext that she was to be interrogated by the police, and she was raped on the 7th and released on the 8th.
Although local residents filed a complaint with the Taungtha Township Police Station regarding the actions of the military junta police, no action was taken, and the police officers who committed the crime are still serving at the checkpoint, an official from the comrade from Taungtha Township

“In the evening, the girl went to fetch water, and when she met the police, they took her to the checkpoint and raped her. We reported the incident to the Taungtha Police Station, but no action has been taken so far. They are like this,”

In addition, on September 10, a military junta column that started from Mahlaing and advanced towards Myingyan and Taungtha also raped 12 women from Yone Si Gyi Village, Taungtha Township.
A joint military column consisting of about 300 members of the Pyu Saw Htee, police, and military junta troops entered Taungtha Township through Mahlaing, and some of the troops separated from the column and stationed themselves at the Yone Si Gyi Police Station.
An official from the Taungtha People’s Defense Force added that during this stationing, about 12 women from the village of Yone Si Gyi were raped daily until they returned.
“The Yone Si Gyi came from Mahlaing with a force of about 300, and the column attacked. A sub-column of that column came to Yone Si Gyi village and joined forces with the police station that were already there. At that time, they raped about 12 women from the village until they returned,”
he added. When the military junta invaded the Myingyan, Natogyi, and Taungtha areas, not only its subordinate troops but also Pyu Saw Htee troops participated in the column, burning down the people’s homes, murders and sexual violence are reported to be frequent.
