🟥They set up a gate in front of a nearby gas station and demand money from trucks and buses

A local resident told BBM that 3 military tanks and 3 military vehicles have been reinforced at the Taungzin police station in Nyaung U Township, Mandalay Region.

At around 11:00 am on July 21, 2025, 3 tanks and 3 military vehicles of the Military juntal have been reinforced at the Taungzin police station in Nyaung U Township, and the military council soldiers are demanding money from trucks and buses in front of a gas station about 1 faron north of the police station.

“This morning, they set up a gate about 1 faron north of the station and demanded money yesterday. They are demanding it again today,”

a local resident told BBM.  Currently, the military junta is causing trouble for the people in various ways across the country, such as asking for bribes at bus stations and randomly picking up porters.

Locals say that the MNDAA is preparing to build a new hospital on the site of the old market in Theinni, northern Shan State.

“The new market will be rebuilt. I heard that the hospital will be rebuilt. I heard that the new hospital will be built on the site of the old market. The project for the new hospital has been drawn up. They are starting the project for the new market,”

said a local source. The current new market is temporarily located on the Namsalat road, on the exit side of the city.

He said that many plots of land near Mine Li(Mongli), around Theinni, and near lotus ponds of the city’s entrance to the city are being cleared for construction of large buildings.

“Theinni Hospital will be built on the old market in Theinni. It will be built. There will be a car parking in the middle, and the hospital around it,”

said a local woman. Locals said that there are many other projects currently underway in Theinni Township. They are also seeing preparations for the construction of infrastructure.

The old Myoma Market in Theinni was bombed and destroyed by the military junta on July 18, 2024.

The city of Theinni was captured and controlled by a joint force with the MNDAA in January 2024.

A Mandalay resident told BBM that an earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale hit Mandalay, Mandalay Region

The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology announced that an earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale struck at 3:28 a.m. on July 16, 2025, 4 miles southeast of Pyay Gyi Dagon Township, Mandalay, at a depth of 10 kilometers.

“It came with a loud sound. It was quiet for the past few days, so I slept soundly. It was after 3 am, and we were running out onto the streets. We didn’t even dare to enter their houses after that. I think Mandalay is in trouble,”

a resident of Chan Aye Thar Zan West told BBM. The earthquake was also felt significantly in towns near Mandalay.

“I think another big earthquake has happened. I’m still feeling the effects of the earthquake struck on May 28. I’m starting to think people will be affected again like they were before,”

a Sagaing resident told BBM. On March 28, 2025, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Sagaing, and records showed that there had been over 200 aftershocks.

A Shwebo resident told BBM on July 12 that the military junta is arresting porters in various ways in Shwe Bo town, Sagaing Region, and is also using private cars to carry out porters.

In Shwebo, soldiers of the military junta are reportedly arresting young people while checking motorbikes and cars and are also seen carrying private cars.

“They don’t arrest them, so these women are only elderly. The young and middle-aged ones are pretty attractive,”

a military source on the ground told BBM. In addition, the military junta is reportedly blocking motorcycles and dragging porters and even dragging them around with private cars.

“In the city, they arrest people without motorbikes, they arrest people without helmets, and they arrest young people without warning. And they also go around the city with these private cars. At least 7 of them go around. They come in plain clothes and in suits,”

a local told BBM. Due to the military junta’s unexpected arrests of porters, it is reported that some young people in Shwebo town are joining the revolutionary forces and are fleeing to safety.

On the other hand, the military junta has reportedly not advanced into areas where the revolutionary forces have gained control for years.

U Nyunt Thaung (aka) Maung Thar Cho, a 67-year-old writer who was known for his eloquent delivery at literary events, has passed away at Pinlon General Hospital, according to those close to him.

Writer Maung Thar Cho passed away at Pinlon General Hospital at around 8 a.m. on July 10, 2025.

“It’s an indescribable loss. He was a man of many ideas and knowledge. He stood by the people until the end. He was always active and enthusiastic in his literary lectures. That’s such a big loss,”

an audience told BBM. Writer Maung Thar Cho, who is also a professor of Burmese, was sentenced to two years in prison by the military junta under Section 505(a) on February 1, 2021, the same day the military vested power in the military junta.

On November 17, 2022, he was released along with several other prominent former political prisoners.

Saya Maung Thar Cho was released from prison, but was constantly monitored by the military junta until his death.

BBM has learned that due to the military junta’s arrests of porters day and night across the country, young people from the lower classes are no longer able to work. Even though they do not want to serve in the military junta, they are forced to attend military training courses run by the military junta, even though their parents have signed them up to do so in order to survive.

A person close to the family told BBM that due to the military junta’s arrests of porters day and night in Phyu Township, Bago Region, young people are no longer able to work and are forced to enlist in the military by their parents, who are greedy for the 5,000,000 or 10,000,000 kyats the military junta offers them.

“Even my cousin went in. It wasn’t to support the military junta. We couldn’t even go out to find food or fish, so we just took the 5,000,000 or 10,000,000 kyats they gave us and went in. I tried to persuade them, but they wouldn’t let us,”

a family member told BBM. In addition, in Paya Dauk Village Tract, Mawkyun Township, Ayeyarwady Division, the administrator, Saw Say Moo, is threatening to pay 60,000 kyats per month if the village does not want to serve in the military,BBM has learned.

“In the Paya Dauk Village Tract, Mawkyun Township. They’ve been saying they’re going to collect money for a long time. They just started collecting it last month,”

a local told BBM. In Chan Aye Thar Zan West, Mandalay Region, a resident told BBM that even today, ward administrators are demanding that those who do not wish to perform military service within a month of the Military Junta’s promulgation of the Civil Service Law on February 10, 2024, pay 200,000 kyats per month.

“Not long after the military service law was passed, they called young people’s homes to have meetings. Should we draw lots? Should we replace them? If we want to replace them, we have to pay 200,000 kyats a month. How can we afford it? Their lives are in the palm of our hands. We have to pay,”

a local told BBM. The military junta has been threatening to force the public to join the war for a year and a half now, as it has opened multiple fronts across the country and is running out of manpower.

A jet fighter was hit in the tail and a Y-8 aircraft suffered damage to its right propeller and fuel tank

At least six members of the military junta were killed and 12 others were injured when the Brave Warriors for Myanmar BWM’s Mission 42 attacked the Taungoo Air Force Headquarters in Taungoo Township, Bago Region, twice in one day with 107mm rockets,a military source told BBM.

On July 8, at 4:33 a.m., BWM’s Mission 42 successfully fired (11) 107mm shells at the Taungoo Township Air Force Headquarters (Kaytumadi) for the first time, and then at 11:55 p.m., BWM announced that it fired another 8 shells.

The BBM investigation found that the air force’s runway was damaged, the No. 2 fuel depot was also set on fire, the tail of a jet fighter was damaged, and the right propeller and fuel tank of a Y-8 military transport aircraft were burned.

A military source told BBM that many officers and soldiers were also injured, and that the military’s attached clinic was full of patients, so they were being rushed to the hospital in civilian vehicles.

The operation was carried out under the leadership of the Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM) group, in collaboration with the Mountain Knight Civilian Defense Forces (MKCDF), the Anti-Coup People’s Liberation Force (ACPLF), the Thandaung Northern Special Region Group, and the KNLA Brigade 2 and Battalion 5, in a joint operation known as Mission 42.
