The military junta in Monywa City, Sagaing Region, held a Thadingyut festival and then paramotored and bombed candlelighters in villages in Monywa District, killing at least ten locals, according to local sources.
The military junta held a festival in the concrete road at the corner of Kyaukkar Road and Anawrahta Road in Monywa, also known as the People’s Park, and at the same time, it’s paratroops bombed people lighting candles in a village on the border of Monywa and Chaung-U.
Monywa District, at least ten people were killed and many others were injured when the military junta paratroops dropped bombed on a lamp-lighting strike on the night of the full moon of Thadingyut in Chaung-U Township, according to local sources.
The paramortar attack took place at around 8pm on the night of the full moon of Thadingyut in a place in the north of Chaung-U Township. The paramortar attack came from the Northwestern Regional Command – Monywa and dropped two 120mm bombs, according to a local source.
“The lamp-lighting strike on the border of Monywa and Chaung U Township was attacked by paramortars and dropped two 120mm bombs. As far as we know, there are more than 10 people dead. There are also many injured. There are some people with amputated limbs. It is very difficult to provide medical treatment,”
a rescue worker told BBM. At least 10 people, including children, were killed and more than 30 others were injured in the military junta’s airstrikes, and it is said that there are difficulties in providing medical treatment to the injured.
Local residents said that the military junta has been bombing villages in Chaung-U Township without any battles, killing local people with machine guns and heavy weapons, often resulting in casualties.
On October 6, the military junta airstrikes on Namtu and Hsipaw in northern Shan State , causing at least six people injured.
