πŸŸ₯3 prisoners recaptured, 4 others are still at large

Three of the prisoners who escaped from Thaton Prison in Mon State have been recaptured, while four others are still at large, a visitor to Thaton Prison told BBM.

On September 15, 2025, around 4 p.m., seven prisoners escaped when the prison van door opened as prisoners were being transported back to the Thaton Prison.

β€œIt is not known who the escapees and recaptured are. Are they political prisoners or other prisoners? We do not know exactly,”

the visitor to the prison continued.

β€œThat day, they caught three of them right away. They were taken to court at 9 a.m. that day. When they were being taken back to the detention center at around 4 p.m., they jumped out of the car as soon as the door opened and ran away. Prison staff and police immediately caught three of them. The other four are still missing,”

a source close to Thaton Prison said. Among those who were taken to court on September 15 were three political prisoners, as well as some people arrested for theft and murder.

After the prisoners escaped, the military junta has tightened security in Thaton and is conducting searches and investigations.

On June 3, a prisoner escaped from Mandalay’s Obo Prison with fetter, and on February 1, seven prisoners grabbed the gun from Ye Police Station and shot police officers and escaped.

During the prisoner escape, Deputy Police Chief, the police sergeant and the police officer died on the spot, while the deputy police chief of the military council’s Ye Myo Ma police station was hit by a bullet in the right chest and required medical treatment.
