A soldier from the military junta entered a female dormitory in a school boarder in Myitkyina, Kachin State, with a gun and sexually assaulted students.
On September 21 (yesterday), at around 12 midnight, a soldier named Aung Myo Khant entered the female dormitory in the Pyinnyar Alin School Boarder in Sitapu Ward 1, Myitkyina.
There were 12th grade students in the female dormitory, and the soldiers first pointed a gun at the students and demanded their phones and money.
When the students said they did not have phones or money, the military junta soldiers forced the girls to take off their tops and groped their breasts.
“After entering the female’s dormitory, he pointed a gun at the girls who are the girls in the dormitory. After he pointed the gun at the girls in grade 12, and then asked them to take out their phones and money, and when they said they did not have phones or money, he forced they took off their shirts and turned their shirts around, and made them stand up and take off their bras, and then groped them one by one and did that,”
a local resident said. The military junta soldier then told the girls to go back to their places because he was worried that the teachers would come and go around the dormitory.
He then slept between the two girls and did some indecent things from above.
He added that while this was happening, a student in the dormitory grabbed a gun and ran downstairs to call teachers and family members for help, which led to the arrest of the military junta member.
“For a while, the girls were scared at first. They were scared. He said, “Are your teachers going around?”
the students said,
“They’re going around.” He said, “Okay, let’s sleep in your own places.
” Everyone slept in their own places. He got in between the two girls and did a swimming trick. At that moment, one of the girls remembered, grabbed a gun, and ran down at once. When their teachers went down, she saw that they were going down. She told the teachers. The girls upstairs also surrounded him and beat him when he didn’t have the gun. The girl downstairs told the teachers. The students, their families, and the people around them came and caught him,” the source added.
After the arrest of the military junta member, the public questioned him and found out that he was a military junta member who was under security at Police Station No. 5, and that he was taken away in cars by the military police. Another local confirmed to BBM about the following.
“There are the guys, who come from the military, under security at the Police Station, and they are probably those people,” another local told BBM.
In Myitkyina, where the military junta’s Northern Command is based, military junta soldiers have been frequently threatening the public with weapons and engaging in bullying and coercion.
