The AA has reopened the Maungdaw Jama Mosque in Rakhine State, which was closed for 12 years.

The AA said that the grand opening ceremony of the Maungdaw Jama osque was held at 9:30 am on September 12.

The grand opening ceremony included the recitation of appropriate verses from the Holy Quran, speeches by local administration officials, the chairman of the Muslim Affairs Council expressing his congratulations on the opening of the mosque, the jury chiefs speaking about social harmony, and the chairman of the mosque’s trustees expressing their gratitude.

“The Myo Ma Jama Mosque has been closed for a long time. It was closed after the 2012 ethnic conflict. Some of them are damaged. The AA has renovated them and reopened them to promote greater harmony between the two communities,”

a Maungdaw resident told BBM. The opening ceremony of the Myo Ma Jama Mosque was attended by AA officials, jury members, members of the Maungdaw District Islamic Affairs Council, the Jama Mosque Trustees, and about 300 people from Rakhine, Chakma, Mro, Hindu, and Muslim communities.

The Myo Ma Jama Mosque in Maungdaw was closed after the 2012 ethnic conflict between the Rakhine and Muslim communities, and has now been reopened by the AA.
